Singapore, April 01, 2013 - Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announced today it is hosting a roadshow to introduce IBM PureSystems™ to end-user customers in the Asia Pacific region.  Renowned computer scientist and former IBM Chief Scientist Dr. Frank Soltis is speaking at the seminars aimed at educating end-user customers on how Expert Integrated Systems can help solve the complexity of enterprise IT, save time and resources, as well as speed up innovation. The seminar series has taken place in four key cities in Australia, namely, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and will tour major ASEAN cities including Singapore, 02 April; Kuala Lumpur, 03 April; and Jakarta on 04 April.

During the roadshow, Avnet Technology Solutions and IBM will talk extensively about IBM’s newly unveiled “Pure Systems™”, which combines the flexibility of general-purpose systems, the elasticity of cloud and the simplicity of an appliance tuned to the workload. Designed for both traditional and cloud environments, IBM’s family of Expert Integrated Systems aims to change the experience and economics of IT and ultimately, help organizations drive efficiencies by providing flexibility and control in their IT.

Dr. Frank Soltis comments, “I look forward to meeting end user customers in the Asia Pacific region and getting first-hand information about their specific challenges. From my numerous meetings with other IT leaders from across the world, it is apparent that their common desire is to deploy smarter computing within their organizations. With the increasing importance of utilizing IT tools, organizations urgently need to identify and move beyond inefficient approaches to computing so that they can deploy new and innovative capabilities at greater speeds. We hope to address that need during the seminars.”

William Chu, President, Avnet Technology Solutions, Asia Pacific, also comments: “We are honoured to have Dr. Soltis, a legendary computer scientist and speaker, to lead the roadshow for our end user customers in the region. Avnet and IBM have had a long history working together and providing end user customers with total solutions.
